From Istanbul to Los Angeles — 15 Years in Fabric
FabricLA started with one person who knows fabric by hand.
I'm Emre Sonmez. I was born in Istanbul — a city where textiles are in the water — and came to the United States 26 years ago for school. I stayed, and I've spent the last 15 years in the fabric business: first as a wholesale importer supplying stores across the country, then building FabricLA to bring that same quality directly to the people actually making things.
Today FabricLA runs out of our warehouse in downtown Los Angeles, a few blocks from the Fashion District. This isn't a dropshipping operation — we hold our own inventory, and every yard is cut, checked, and packed by our team in LA. Faux fur, felt, fleece, cotton, muslin, knits — if we sell it, we've touched it.
What Makes Us Different
We cut everything in-house. Yardage, pre-cut squares from 4x4 to 30x36, strips, ribbons, shapes — including CNC precision cutting for custom pieces and kit components. If you need a size we don't list, ask. That's the point of owning the machines.
We stock what we sell. When you order today, it ships from Los Angeles — not from a supplier we've never met, three weeks away.
We serve makers and businesses alike. A single yard for a weekend project or a recurring cut-to-size program for a business — same warehouse, same standards. You'll find us on FabricLA.com, Amazon, Walmart, Michaels, Etsy, eBay, Wayfair, and TikTok Shop, but the best selection and prices live right here.
Why We Do It
I'm a maker myself — I still design our DIY felt kits personally. The best part of this business is seeing what people create with what we cut: costumes, quilts, classroom projects, first sewing lessons, small businesses built at kitchen tables. We supply the raw material for that, and we take it seriously.
Fifteen years in, the goal hasn't changed: quality fabric, cut right, shipped fast, from people who actually know the product.
Come see us — our Los Angeles warehouse is open to walk-in customers, Monday through Saturday.
